Why Use Half Blocks?
Half concrete blocks are used for staggered masonry layouts and wall ends. Half paving stones help complete pavement edges according to the laying pattern. Suitable complementary units can reduce on-site cutting.
Half Units and Splittable Units
A half unit leaves the mould at its intended size. A splittable unit is manufactured with geometry that facilitates subsequent separation. The splitting line and the dimensions of the resulting pieces should be defined in the product drawing.
The choice between these approaches depends on the required surface appearance and installation method.
Planning the Mould Layout
Full and half units can be produced in the same mould where the machine configuration and cavity arrangement allow. Production in separate moulds can also be considered.
The ratio of full to half units should reflect the paving pattern or masonry layout. There is no fixed ratio suitable for every application.
Technical Review and Quotation
Block Mould prepares mould layouts according to the product drawing, machine model and production board dimensions. For splittable concrete blocks, the splitting geometry should be approved in the technical drawing, and separation behaviour should be verified using production samples.
