How to Calculate Concrete Block Machine Output
Calculate hourly concrete block production using units per cycle and cycle time. Learn how operating hours, downtime and rejected products affect daily output.
Calculating Hourly Production
The theoretical hourly output of a concrete block machine depends on the number of units produced per cycle and the complete cycle time. Cycle time includes the full interval between successive production cycles, not just the vibration stage.
Hourly output = Units per cycle × 3,600 ÷ Cycle time in seconds.
For example, a machine producing 8 blocks every 20 seconds has a theoretical output of 1,440 blocks per hour. This calculation assumes continuous operation.
Calculating Usable Daily Output
Daily calculations should use net production hours after downtime has been deducted, rather than the full shift duration. Rejected products must also be deducted from the total.
In the example above, 6 net production hours would yield 8,640 blocks. If 2% are rejected, approximately 8,467 usable blocks remain. These figures illustrate the calculation and are not a production guarantee.
What Affects Actual Production?
Mix supply, mould filling, compaction, board changes and handling equipment influence production speed. Cleaning, mould changes, maintenance and material shortages also reduce net operating time.
Cycle times can vary between products. The production rate achieved with one paving stone should not be applied directly to a different concrete block.
Mould Selection and Production Planning
Increasing mould cavity count does not guarantee a proportional increase in daily output. The layout must remain compatible with the machine’s filling, compaction and handling capabilities.
